Governor Cuomo announced on August 17th that gyms and fitness centers could open as early as August 24th. This was a huge step forward in our reopening plans, and we’re so excited to invite you all back to the Cortland YMCA!
After carefully reviewing the reopening guidelines, we are planning to invite members back on September 8th, starting at 6 AM. Our new schedule is:
Monday through Friday: 5:30 AM-12:30 PM; 2:00 PM-7:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM-1:00 PM
Sunday: Closed
The Y will be closing from 12:30-2:00 PM on weekdays to allow staff time to do a deep clean of all equipment, locker rooms, and other shared objects and spaces.
We are still working out the details of our reopening, but here’s what we can share right now.
All members will be required to undergo a health screening on their way into the building, a process which includes a temperature check and a health survey. Members will be required to wear an acceptable mask (no bandannas, buffs, or gaiters, per state order) the entire time they are in the building, including while working out and while in the locker rooms. The only exception is for swimmers while they are in the water.
All members will need to maintain 6′ of distance between themselves and any one else in the building, and wash (or sanitize) their hands on a regular basis. Locker rooms may be open, but showers will not be available.
Members will be responsible for cleaning any equipment they use both before and after their workout. The Cortland YMCA will have cleaning supplies available for member use.
Childwatch, the basketball courts, table tennis, and the lobby seating area will all be closed when we first reopen.
We expect to have a longer update and more information available by the end of the week, as we continue to create a plan that will keep our members and our staff safe.
