In the early 80’s, Pat Ryan introduced Cortland to a fun way to get outside and compete against yourself. With this updated version, you’ll still push yourself, earn “medals” and create memories! The $30 registration fee will cover the cost of a t-shirt, lanyard and buttons for each challenge you complete, plus weekly group check ins. We will have group events take place for a small additional fee to help mark off challenges throughout the summer to keep you motivated. All proceeds from this event go directly to the Cortland YMCA’s Membership for All Campaign, which helps keep the YMCA accessible to all.

All events will include Gold, Silver or Bronze participation levels. Events to push yourself in include: aerobic exercise, biking, triathlon, canoeing, swimming, running, hiking and pickleball.

Choose your own “Self-Challenge”

Each fitness activity provides you with the chance to push yourself to your limits! Compete against yourself to the Gold, Silver or Bronze level. Some activities can easily be completed in a day, while others make take a few days. The joy of this challenge is that you have from June 1st-September 20th to reach your goals!

Pick your challenge by doing the bronze, silver or gold level of each activity!

Aerobic Exercise (such as fitness classes, cardio, etc):

  • Gold Level: 20 hours of aerobic exercise
  • Silver Level: 15 hours of aerobic exercise
  • Bronze Level: 10 hours of aerobic exercise

Biking (mountain, road, etc.)

  • Gold Level: 40 Miles
  • Silver Level: 20 Miles
  • Bronze Level: 10 Miles

Canoeing/Kayaking:

  • Gold Level: 12 hours
  • Silver Level: 7 hours
  • Bronze Level: 3 hours

Hiking:

  • Gold Level: 20 Miles
  • Silver Level: 15 Miles
  • Bronze: 10 Miles

Pickleball:

  • Gold Level: Play 10 Games
  • Silver Level: Play 5 Games
  • Bronze Level: Play 3 Games

Running:

  • Gold Level: 6.2 Miles
  • Silver Level: 3.1 Miles
  • Bronze Level: 1 Mile

Swimming:

  • Gold Level: 1,000 Yards
  • Silver Level: 750 Yards
  • Bronze Level: 500 Yards

Triathlon:

  • Gold Level: Swim 1,000 Yards/Bike 10 Miles/Run 5 Miles
  • Silver Level: Swim 750 Yards/Bike 7 Miles/Run 3 Miles
  • Bronze Level: Swim 500 Yards/Bike 5 Miles/Run 1 Mile
