Why support our Annual Campaign?
Every year, we help more than a hundred families and individuals afford membership and programs here at the Y. And maybe a hundred doesn’t sound like a lot, but in the last year, that meant 62 weeks of summer camp, so parents can work and children have a safe place to play. It meant 46 memberships. It meant 57 months of practice for youth involved in our swim or gymnastics teams. It meant kids learning how to be safe around water.
But that’s not the best part. When people join the Y, they’re creating memories. They’re meeting new friends and building connections. They become a part of a supportive community that wants to see them succeed.
During this year’s Annual Support Campaign, we’re asking for your support to provide another year of memories, new friendships, and community for the people in our neighborhoods who benefit from our financial assistance program.
For A Better Us
For 151 years, the Cortland YMCA has helped ensure all people can reach their full potential, no matter who they are or where they’re from. When you donate to the Cortland YMCA, you give everyone in our community the chance to thrive.
Did you know that in 2019 the Cortland County Family YMCA provided reduced-price memberships and programs to nearly 300 community members totaling over $65,000 in assistance? This support means families are getting healthy together, children are attending summer camp, and young athletes are competing with our gymnastics and swim teams without financial barriers.
At the Y, we believe that every man, woman, and child has the right to a safe and supportive place where they can meet their wellness goals. Currently, almost 3,000 people participate in our programs or utilize our services each year — that’s nearly one in every fifteen Cortland County residents. We’re working hard to expand our programs to better meet the needs of our community members regardless of their background or socioeconomic status, but we can’t do it without your help.
Please join us in changing lives.

Youth Development
All kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, under the guidance of caring adults who believe in their potential. We see every interaction with young people as an opportunity for learning and development–all grounded in the Y’s core value of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Healthy Living
We help people and families build and maintain healthy habits for spirit, mind, and body in their everyday lives. By helping kids, adults, families, and seniors from all walks of life improve their health and well-being, we build a stronger community.
Social Responsibility
With our doors open to all, we bring together people from all backgrounds, to support those in need. We take on the most urgent needs in our community and inspire a spirit of service in return. Our members, volunteers, supporters, and staff demonstrate the power of what we can achieve by giving back together.
Every dollar donated to the Cortland YMCA has a lasting impact on the people of Cortland County. If you’d like to donate for a specific purpose, please talk to Gina Cusano-McLaughlin by calling (607) 756-2893.
