Why support our Annual Campaign?
At the Y, we strive to be the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening our community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose, and each other. Every day, we work to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, belong, and thrive.
As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the generosity of our friends, neighbors, and families to bring our mission to life. Just last year, the Cortland YMCA provided over $64,000 in financial assistance and program support because of one simple reason: You.
And thanks to your support, exciting things are happening at the Cortland Y! From our newly renovated Wellness Center to expanded mission-driven programs, we are investing in a stronger, healthier community. Our free EnhanceFitness program helps older adults improve strength, balance, and social connections, while LIVESTRONG helps cancer survivors regain strength and confidence. We are also currently providing free swim lessons for children, ensuring greater access to lifesaving water safety education.
These are more than programs and renovations. They are lives strengthened, barriers removed, and a community growing stronger together.
Thank you for believing in our mission, investing in our future, and helping us create a place where everyone belongs.

For A Better Us
For 151 years, the Cortland YMCA has helped ensure all people can reach their full potential, no matter who they are or where they’re from. When you donate to the Cortland YMCA, you give everyone in our community the chance to thrive.
Did you know that in 2019 the Cortland County Family YMCA provided reduced-price memberships and programs to nearly 300 community members totaling over $65,000 in assistance? This support means families are getting healthy together, children are attending summer camp, and young athletes are competing with our gymnastics and swim teams without financial barriers.
At the Y, we believe that every man, woman, and child has the right to a safe and supportive place where they can meet their wellness goals. Currently, almost 3,000 people participate in our programs or utilize our services each year — that’s nearly one in every fifteen Cortland County residents. We’re working hard to expand our programs to better meet the needs of our community members regardless of their background or socioeconomic status, but we can’t do it without your help.
Please join us in changing lives.
Your gift of time or monetary contribution helps us to do more in our community. Keep reading to learn more how your support makes a difference.
Youth Development
All kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, under the guidance of caring adults who believe in their potential. We see every interaction with young people as an opportunity for learning and development–all grounded in the Y’s core value of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Healthy Living
We help people and families build and maintain healthy habits for spirit, mind, and body in their everyday lives. By helping kids, adults, families, and seniors from all walks of life improve their health and well-being, we build a stronger community.
Social Responsibility
With our doors open to all, we bring together people from all backgrounds, to support those in need. We take on the most urgent needs in our community and inspire a spirit of service in return. Our members, volunteers, supporters, and staff demonstrate the power of what we can achieve by giving back together.
Every dollar donated to the Cortland YMCA has a lasting impact on the people of Cortland County. If you’d like to donate for a specific purpose, please talk to Gina Cusano-McLaughlin by calling (607) 756-2893.
